BlaCaPOx advancing personalised treatment for non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC)

Mosaiques is the coordinator of the new EP PerMed collaborative project BlaCaPOx, which aims to develop a multi-omics approach to personalise treatment for patients with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) receiving Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) immunotherapy. As patient responses to BCG vary widely and treatment decisions currently rely mainly on clinical symptoms, there is a need for molecular tools to optimise dosing and improve outcomes.


By integrating existing datasets with molecular information from bladder tissue and urine samples, BlaCaPOx will identify biomarkers that predict treatment response and side effects. Advanced bioinformatics and machine learning will be used to develop models supporting personalised BCG dosing, with a strong focus on non-invasive urine-based liquid biopsy assays.


The project will also assess the clinical feasibility of these assays and involve patients, healthcare professionals, and policy experts to ensure that the approach is practical, cost-effective, and ready for future implementation in clinical care.
